How to Add & Edit Core Values

  • Updated

Core Values allow you to encourage value-based Recognition in the WorkTango Recognition & Rewards platform. Linking Core Values to Recognitions helps to emphasize company values, and also improves the overall quality of peer-to-peer Recognitions given within the platform. A Recognition given for living the core value of "One Team" through demonstrated collaboration is quite different than one given simply for "being so cool gurl woot woot!"

-----

Don't want Core Values to be required after all? No problem!

To turn "Core Values Required" off, from the admin dashboard, navigate to the Company preferences dropdown on the left side navigation and select 'Core value & skills'.

Click “Edit Core Value settings” in the Core values & skills page.

For admins setting up the platform for the first time, you have the ability to identify key organizational values to which employees can then align their Recognitions.

Adding Core Values

To add Core values into the WorkTango platform on behalf of your company, follow the steps below:

Editing a Core Value

To edit an existing core value, simply click on the 'Edit' button next to the core value in the Core values & Skills page.

You can only edit the description of an existing core value. The name cannot be changed.

Archiving/Deleting Core Values

You can archive a core value and reinstate it at a later time, or you can delete the Core value entirely.

To archive a Core value, select the check box next to it in the Core values & skills page. Then click on the 'Bulk Actions' dropdown and select 'Archive'.

To delete a Core value, click the 'Delete' button next to it in the Core values & skill page.*

Both archiving and delete a Core value will remove it from past Recognition posts. Unarchiving a Core value will not reinstate it in past Recognition posts.

*Depending on your configuration, this button may also show as 'Archive', but will function the same.

Make Core Values Optional / Required

Enabling this setting will require Core values to be selected wherever users send Recognitions - this includes Recognitions sent in the Activity Feed, Birthdays page, Anniversaries page, People page, Outlook integration, Teams integration, Slack integration, and both Android and iOS mobile apps.

To make changes to this setting, click “Edit Core Value settings” in the Core values & skills page.

Then select the option you’d prefer, and click 'Save'.

If employees are not used to having to select a Core value prior to sending a Recognition, don't worry: if they try to send a Recognition without identifying a Core value, an alert will appear to remind them.
