What is Special Recognition?

  • Updated

Special Recognition allows admins to send a recognition on the company’s behalf, either for milestone celebrations or ad-hoc use cases that fall outside of traditional recognition. With a distinct yet company-branded UI treatment, Special Recognitions draw greater attention to employee successes and highlight truly exceptional moments.

Special Recognition is also a great feature for managing time-bound initiatives, like competitions or organization-wide challenges. It incentivizes engagement and provides more support of core values and mission-critical behaviors, driving greater participation in your corporate programs, e.g., Salesperson of the Quarter, Recognition of the Month, or a company wellness challenge.

Birthday, Anniversary, & Milestone Recognitions

Special Recognition can go a long way in helping you manage your milestone celebrations. You can automate anniversary special recognitions using a rule-based mechanism by creating milestone rules that are triggered once an employee meets set criteria e.g., one year of service or their date of birth.

To establish the milestone recognition rules, access the admin dashboard from the platform home page. From the Recognition & Rewards menu on the left-hand side of the screen, select Special Recognition. If you are recognizing anniversaries and birthdays, please make sure these fields are toggled on.

For more information on setting up these Special Recognitions, see here

Ad Hoc Special Recognition

Ad Hoc Special Recognitions can be used for one-off recognitions that show as coming from the company instead of from an individual. The points do not come from any individual's points to send and are instead added to the system with the recognition.* For more information on sending Ad Hoc Special Recognitions, see here

These recognitions typically appear in your secondary branding color as specified in the site design. For more information on this, see this article

*Reminder that your company is not charged by WorkTango for points available in the system, and is instead only charged when an employee redeems a reward from the Rewards Marketplace.
